Michael Mozill, Associate Professor of Business Management and Entrepreneur, presented in the Accelerate space on the ins and outs of the Business Model Canvas. He shared with students the many benefits it has including its flexibility. He highlighted that this type of plan should be what early stage startups focus on. It allows for adjustments and fluctuations and has the added benefit of being a one page document. This allows teams and businesses to see their entire plan in one place. Take a look at some of his most quotable takeaways below.
“Don’t get into business with someone who’s in love with the product. If they’re in love with the problem, that’s where it works.”
“The business model canvas is based on fact, based on reality based on things you’ve learned.”
“Don’t be afraid to talk about the failures. The failures are important. That's what you learn from.”
“If I stayed true to my business plan, I’d be doing something completely different right now. I wish I had the business model canvas. This would’ve made my life so much easier.”
