Mayor Tom Menino and President Zorica Pantic share a few words prior to the groundbreaking of the Flanagan Campus Center in 2011
Upon the news that former Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino has passed, President Zorica Pantić issued the following statement:
"The Wentworth community mourns the loss of Mayor Thomas M. Menino. From his earliest days as mayor and throughout 20 years of leading the City of Boston, he displayed great support for the development, growth and success of the Institute.
Mayor Menino was among the first to support our development of student housing, and he stood with a shovel in hand at the groundbreaking ceremony for Wentworth’s Center for Sciences and Biomedical Engineering and the William H. Flanagan Campus Center. He enjoyed interacting with students during our Technology Goes Home graduations and at events such as College Think Tank.
From the moment I arrived as president of Wentworth, he embraced me and was always supportive of Wentworth’s vision to grow. His admiration for education and community work will forever impact the city and inspire future leaders. It was a privilege to know the mayor and to work with him. We will miss him greatly and extend our deepest condolences to his family."
