Art Zafiropoulo Named Summer Commencement Speaker

Art Zafiropoulo, EEP ’60, has been named the featured speaker for Wentworth’s Summer 2017 Commencement ceremony on August 20.
Recognized for his leadership and technical expertise in the semiconductor equipment industry, Zafiropoulo became president of global technology company Ultratech Stepper (later Ultratech) in 1990, leading the company’s financial turnaround. Earlier this year, Ultratech merged with Veeco Instruments, Inc.
Prior to joining Ultratech, Zafiropoulo served as president of Semiconductor Equipment Group International, a subsidiary of General Signal Corporation. Previously, Zafiropoulo was founder and president of Drytek, a Wilmington, Mass.-based dry-etching company.
The holder of more than 50 U.S. and international patents, Zafiropoulo is also the founder of Ferrari of Silicon Valley and cofounder of Scuderia Corsa, a championship sports car racing team.
Summer Commencement will take place at Blue Hills Bank Pavilion on Sunday, August 20, at 2:00 p.m. More information on the ceremony can be found at wit.edu/commencement.
