Department of Biomedical Engineering

The Biomedical Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.

The biomedical program educates future biomedical engineers through practice-oriented training so that graduates can utilize technological advancements, contribute to innovative solutions in a collaborative environment, and make appropriate decisions for their areas of professional responsibility. Students develop the skills necessary to design, build, test, report, and assess results for applications in biomedical engineering processes, designs, and projects. The program's two concentrations, clinical engineering and medical devices and systems, leverage the proximity and strength of the large number of medical device companies in Massachusetts, as well as nearby medical communities and facilities. These links prepare students for rewarding careers in health care-related industries, hospitals, academic and government research laboratories, regulatory agencies, and advanced studies leading to graduate degrees.
