City of Boston and Wentworth Launch COLLEGE THINK TANK BOSTON
COLLEGE THINK TANK BOSTON
Saturday, June 15, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
MassChallenge (in the Innovation District)
One Marina Park Drive, 14th floor
Boston, MA 02210
The City of Boston and Wentworth co-founded the one-day COLLEGE THINK TANK BOSTON to bring together approximately 100 local college and university students from different institutions and academic disciplines, design thinkers, city representatives, and community partners to brainstorm ideas and explore creative solutions to real challenges in Boston’s neighborhoods.
Teams of students will focus on the immediate challenge of dealing with the vacancy of commercial space in communities and neighborhoods throughout the city. They will generate ideas for how existing and future vacancies could be filled in a way that represent the interests of communities and landlords.
The ideas coming out of this event have the potential to be further supported by the City of Boston’s Office of Business Development and become real initiatives.
The event presents an opportunity to foster a stronger and more collaborative student community, showcase Boston’s students, and expand and enhance the learning experience beyond campus boundaries.
Sponsors include Boston Private Bank, B.L. Makepeace, Peterson Party Center, Poland Spring, Staples, Strega Café, and Unreal Candy. Additional collaborators include AIGA Boston, Continuum, Design Museum Boston, ePowerhouse, IDEO, Imaginatik, and MassInnovation Nights.
