Welcome to Your CONNECT Newsletter

CONNECT is a collaboration effort between the Alumni Library, Counseling and Disability Services, Learning & Development, and Division of Student Affairs. The goal of the CONNECT newsletter is to provide a centralized place for information about workshops, lectures, activities, and events relevant to faculty. This central repository will make it easier for faculty to learn about what is happening on campus specifically for them.

Welcome Instructional Designer Sarah Walkowiak

sarahLearning and Development is pleased to welcome Sarah Walkowiak, who joins our team as an Instructional Designer. Sarah came to WIT most recently from Brandeis University where she was a Research & Instruction Technology Specialist in Library and Technology Services. Prior to Brandeis, Sarah worked at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, also her alma mater.

Facilitating the Transition from High School to College

It happens every semester: a student comes to you completely caught off guard and overwhelmed by the demands of college.  Counseling and Disability Services is currently involved in an initiative to provide access to clear and accurate information about the differences between high school and college for students, families, and high school faculty and staff.

A Look at Interdisciplinary at WIT

In order to promote the Interdisciplinary Project-Based Learning initiative at Wentworth, faculty members will be participating in an interactive digital poster session highlighting their collaborations. The first of these projects, taught by Assistant Professors Greg Sirokman (Sciences) and Robert Lind (Mechanical), students in MECH 180 and CHEM 360 worked together to examine which ratios of epoxy are most effective under various stresses. Getting Ready For The New Blackboard

Wentworth is upgrading to the newest version of Blackboard for Fall 2012. With this upgrade there are many exciting changes as well as new terminology and features for instructors and students to get up to speed on. Throughout the spring and summer faculty are encouraged to work with Learning and Development to receive training so they are ready for the switch.

The Learning Center wants to hear from you!  During the spring semester, the Learning Center is especially interested in seeking feedback from faculty, staff and students about how to most effectively provide support for student learning.  Students can utilize the Learning Center for help with classes, to explore a passion or interest or to brush up on their skills.  We are always seeking to collaborate with faculty and staff to bring our students the very best learning experiences.
